Ray Staiger Hamilton

Hamilton-based Ray Staiger Limited has been supplying strapping systems, fastenings, brackets and toggle anchoring systems to the construction industry nationwide for 30 years. As a thriving Waikato business, the family-run company had outgrown its existing premises and needed a new home with more warehouse space, both for its current needs and future expansion.

“The business started its life in the garage at home back in 1993,” says Christine Staiger, Managing Director. “We eventually moved to a building on Avalon Drive, then outgrew that, so bought and built on Ruffell Road. We just kept growing and ended up needing another space 13 years later.”

The company approached Fosters Construction to deliver a new purpose-built facility on a 4500m² site, comprising a two-storey office building incorporated into a 1200m² warehouse. The build includes offices, flexible boardroom space, two kitchen facilities, a gym, showroom and packing areas, as well as the large warehouse area.

“When we talked to Fosters about the exterior, they suggested Eurowood,” says Christine. “It seemed like a really good option because we didn’t want to involve paint, as this would have been really costly over the years ahead. We could see this option was going to be easy to maintain and keep clean - and wouldn’t involve repainting further down the track.”

The building showcases the timeless appeal and performance of Eurowood F945 cladding in sublimation Dark Cedar. Two years on, it’s still looking incredible and took home a Gold in the 2025 New Zealand Commercial Projects Awards. “Everyone who comes in says it’s an amazing building inside and out, and the range of shades meant we could choose something that enhanced our company brand colours. We couldn’t be happier with how it all turned out.”
